Professional Development for Galileo K‑12 Online Users
Create enthusiasm district-wide by hosting a Galileo K‑12 Online professional development session at your site. Effective training will jump-start the use of the Galileo K-12 Online Instructional Improvement System to further the unique goals of your school or district.
Galileo Professional Development staff from Assessment Technology Incorporated (ATI) come to you direct from the classroom and are well-versed in both educational theory and practice. In addition to degrees in education, ATI’s Professional Development staff have substantial educational experience, teaching students of all ages. Because they have been in the trenches of public education, they are sensitive to the every-day challenges facing educators, and include innovative and practical solutions in their offerings. ATI’s Professional Development Department has instructed thousands of teachers on Galileo technology.
Professional Development Components
Galileo K-12 Online users can select from the following components to offer participants hands-on experience navigating and using Galileo K-12 Online.
Component 1: Assessment Planner and Test Review
- Learn how to use the assessment planning process, including:
- use of the Assessment Planner in selection of the state standards consistent with district objectives.
- use of the Test Review process to ensure customized district-wide assessments aligned with the district pacing calendar.
Component 2: Online, Response Pad, and Offline Testing
- Learn and practice the steps involved in both monitoring student rosters and in scheduling, administrating, taking, and scoring tests.
- Learn to administer assessments online or through the use of response pads.
- Learn to use Scanline for offline testing with online test scoring and data aggregation.
Component 3: Building Formative Assessments
- Construct and auto-generate classroom assessments aligned to state standards and instruction with Quiz Builder and Test Builder tools.
- Use ATI’s formative item banks and/or build a district’s library of formative test items for sharing across schools, grades, and classes.
Component 4: Generating Reports and Using Data
- Get actionable data through Galileo reports providing rapid access to student achievement information.
- Learn how to analyze student, class, school, and district data.
- Learn how to use assessment data to aid in decision-making and inform instruction.
Component 5: Curriculum and Dialog Builder
- Use Galileo K-12 Online tools to create assignments and lesson plans which link assessments to planning.
- Learn to create Instructional Dialogs.
- Learn to deliver Instructional Dialogs as independent activities and teacher-managed lessons.
Component 6: Implementing Interventions
- Gain an understanding of how Galileo may be used to implement interventions at the class-, school-, and district-level.
- Become familiar with the ways in which Galileo automatically creates intervention groups.
- Learn how to create and define your own intervention groups.
- Use Galileo tools to manage and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
Component 7: Tips for District Professional Development Instructors
- Review of all components of the Galileo K-12 Online system with special emphasis on professional development instruction and supporting others.
Component 8: Lead Staff
- Summarize how to quickly get started with Galileo K-12 Online.
- Complete the Implementation Checklist, begin Galileo rollout, and review the district's instructional plan for Galileo K-12 Online.
Component 9: Grading: Gradebook and/or Report Cards
- Gain an understanding of the web-based Gradebook's features.
- Be familiar with printing reports for parent conferences.
- Learn how to record grades and comments for midterm and end-of-period reports.
